Who am I?

My name is Abigail Poling and I am currently a student studying Metalsmithing and Jewelry at Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina. My Mother would tell you that, ever since I was little I loved art and pursued this passion any opportunity I have been offered.

I was raised in Hagerstown, Maryland and spent most of my younger years there until I moved at the age of eleven to Charlotte, North Carolina. Moving around place to place was difficult for me throughout my life, being far from loved ones and familiarity. Even now, with my parents taking this opportunity in their lives to rather live on the sea than in one place, even so, I am happy to call Boone my home.

What I have always wanted to with my life has never been certain; Ive explored Marine Biology, Athletics, Fashion and many other offshoots I thought I may pursue. However the one thing that has always been consistent is my need to create.

My goal in life is to combine my interests of kinetics, wearability and functionality within art. This may be my love for stop motion animation talking and other mechanical processes but I feel as if the only way for me to truly annunciate the meaning of my work is for it to come alive.

Through schooling I hope to better improve upon the skills needed in order to make this dream become a reality and I hope that you will follow along on my journey of creation.
